Crochet Ice Cream Cozy Tutorial

One of my goals last year was to do more photo and video tutorials and share them primarily via my Instagram.  And here I go continuing that goal for this year!!

I know a lot of people do not have Instagram so I will try to share some of these here as well.

This ICE CREAM COZY is my first quick and easy tutorial for this new year!!   See below for the full photo tutorial.

I now have several FREE Instagram Pattern Tutorials so come on over and follow me @theburgundybasket

You can also find the below patterns on IG as tutorials also.

I have a new way for you to support my FREE PATTERNS!! I know many- or most of you- love supporting us makers – the truth is that is takes a long time to create a pattern and then write it and then edit it and get it proofed and tested – and then publish it – then you have to link it everywhere – it’s a lot of work, but us makers do what we do to share our love with you. And, if you have followed my blog, you may know that I do not run ads on my blog, so all my support comes from PDF purchases. Some of you don’t need to purchase the PDF of my patterns, but still want to say a quick Thank you – so, you can now support my blog and my work.

2026 UPDATE:

At the beginning of 2026 I did more stash busting and worked up this pattern again.  The only difference to my new version is that I used a lemon peel stitch (alternating double crochet and single crochet) all the way around instead of hdc and just did a third loop/back loop sc finish.  I also used my size I hook this time because one of my skeins of yarn that I started with was more a sport weight yarn.

To do the lemon peel version however, you will need to add one crochet to your 30 crochet on your last increase round.  So, after you increase to 30 sc around, you will do one more sc round where you add just one sc to end with 31 sc.  You can add this increase anywhere.  The lemon peel stitch requires an odd number of stitches to work which is why you add this extra stitch.  Your first round of lemon peel would be sc, dc, sc, dc, around and then when you get back around your dc will go in a sc and vice versa.  I still worked this pattern continuously.

Have a great stash busting year!!

I am planning on doing a lot more Instagram tutorials so come over and join me!!

Thank you for stopping by

Kristi XOXO
