Crochet Alphabet: Letter W

We are almost done with all the letters!  I can’t believe we only have a few letters to go! ..only 3 more letters!

I was driving home today thinking about the ideas I had for my finished letters and I’m pretty sure I have it all worked out in my head.  It is going to be so fabulous!  Stay with me here at The Burgundy Basket to see it first.

And I was asked if I was going to compile all of these letters into one downloadable pdf and the answer is “absolutely!” I want you all to have them in one place.  I am also going to combine my finished final project and the letters in one bundle if you want to wait on that.  I am hoping to finish the final project before the end of summer.

How will you use your letters?

Find links to the previous letters at the bottom of this post.

Letter W:

Chain 46

Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, hdc 8, 2hdc, hdc 4, 2hdc, hdc 7, sc3tog, hdc 7, 2hdc, hdc 4, 2hdc, hdc 8. Chain 1 and turn (47)

Hdc 8, 2hdc, hdc, 2hdc, hdc 2, 2hdc, hdc, 2hdc, hdc 6, sc3tog, hdc 6, 2hdc, hdc, 2hdc, hdc 2, 2hdc, hdc, 2hdc, hdc 8. Chain 1 and turn (53) Chain 1 and turn

Hdc 8, (skip 2, 5dc) 2 times more, skip 2, slip stitch in next 4 stitches, insert hook into the next, but then skip the next 5 stitches and insert hook into the next and slip stitch the two stitches on your hook together. Slip stitch in the next 4. (skip 2, 5dc) 2 times more, skip 2, hdc 8. Turn.

Slip stitch around the entire letter. Your slip stitches will be worked from the back of the letter. When I got to the inside curves of the inner top curves, I did a slip stitch 3 together. This is one of those letters you WILL NEED TO STEAM BLOCK

The last step to these letters is steam blocking.  This step is so important – especially for letters like this when you need to block the curvy parts of the letter. I can’t stress how important and what kind of difference this step makes.  I did a post about steam blocking HERE in relation to a different project, but the idea is the same.  This step takes your letter up a notch!  It makes is lay flat, look professional, soften a little and just all around look so much better.
